Affirm strives to offer all credit-worthy applicants financing with Affirm but, unfortunately, isn't able to approve every customer every time. If declined, Affirm will send you an email with details about its decision. If you have questions, you can visit affirm.com/help
How does Affirm approve borrowers for loans?
Affirm utilizes a proprietary method of approving consumers and takes many factors into account such as:
- Your age and residency.
- If you have a Social Security number or not
- Your credit history, including your current score and debt obligations, both with Affirm and other creditors.
- Verification of your income (in some cases).
- If you have an Affirm account and how long they’ve had that account and the number of loans you currently have with Affirm
Because Affirm bases its loan decision not only on the customer’s credit score but also on several other data points, the customer may be able to obtain financing from Affirm even if they don't have an extensive credit history.
